As was mentioned previously, pieces of furniture assembled from kits are generally made from fine hardwoods. The quality of the wood is such that knots and other surface imperfections are relatively rare when compared to the woods used in the cheaper pieces of assembled unfinished furniture. This results in a much better appearance when a finish is applied. Furthermore, the opportunity to use transparent finishes is both increased and encouraged.
