STEEL WOOL A felt pad or a clean lint-free cloth is recommended when rubbing with pumice stone. Paraffin oil, a light motor oil, sewing machine oil, raw linseed oil, boiled linseed oil, and others have all been used with varying degrees of success as the lubricant with pumice stone. Paraffin oil and the two types of linseed oil are recommended over the others. Mail-order houses sell a rubbing oil especially designed for use with both pumice stone and rottenstone. ROTTENSTONE Rottenstone is another powdered abrasive similar to pumice stone but its particles are much finer. As a result, rottenstone is commonly u ed after the pumice stone to obtain an extra high polish. It is used with many of the same lubricants used with pumice stone
